An Hour
to Explore

Historic Downtown

You have some free time before dinner — enjoy the area, but don't wander too far. Leave the car parked; everything below is a one-to-three-minute walk from the spa. Here are a few ideas to enjoy while you wait.

The Balcony Bar
Step onto the covered historic deck right outside the hotel for a craft cocktail or a glass of wine overlooking the downtown district.
Basin Spring Park
Sit together at the stone-tiered park just outside the hotel gates — natural running springs, mountain air, and occasional live local music.
Spring Street
Stroll the town's storied main strip — independent boutiques, local art galleries, and beautifully preserved Victorian architecture.
1
Exit the Basin Park Hotel onto Spring Street and head downhill (east).
2
Walk one block and turn right onto Center Street.
3
Your dinner reservation is just around the corner — it'll be revealed when the time is right.
About a 3–5 minute walk. Leave the car parked.

Candlelight

Grotto Wood-Fired Grill & Wine Cave
Experience Dinner is served inside a centuries-old sandstone cave, cooled by a live spring flowing beneath your feet and lit entirely by candlelight. Chef Slane's seasonal wood-fired menu transforms familiar ingredients into something quietly remarkable.

Location 10 Center St, Eureka Springs

Menu Wood-fired prime cuts, cedar-plank salmon, and a rotating selection of seasonal small plates — built around local sourcing and the Ozark seasons. If nothing else, order the chocolate dome.
About Grotto

Housed in a century-old stone building in downtown Eureka Springs — where a natural spring runs beneath the dining room floor — Grotto has become one of Arkansas' most celebrated dining destinations. Chef Slane's philosophy is elegance through simplicity: a tight, seasonal menu that changes with what's best and earns its devoted repeat visitors.

Head Up the
Mountain

1886 Crescent Hotel & Spa

The Grotto is downtown, but your last stop of the night sits at the top of a steep mountain hill. Do not walk — it is a quick 5-minute drive. If dinner wraps up early, head up ahead of schedule and enjoy what the haunted grounds have to offer before the frights begin.

SkyBar Pizzeria
Four floors up on the Crescent's open-air deck, the SkyBar offers some of the most unobstructed panoramic views in the Ozarks — including the illuminated Christ of the Ozarks statue glowing across the valley. Sit outside with a craft cocktail and let the mountain air do the rest.
The Crescent Roost Fire Pits
The hotel's manicured historic gardens wrap the building's grounds and are beautifully lit at night, with wood-burning fire pits scattered throughout. A quiet, unhurried spot to sit close and let the evening breathe before the frights begin.
The Lobby Ghost Gallery
The grand main lobby is part museum, part haunted hall — lined with vintage artifacts, original photographs, and guest logbooks dating back to 1886. Look for the ghost wall: a curated collection of paranormal photographs captured by guests over the decades.
1
Exit onto Center Street and turn left, heading back toward Spring Street.
2
Turn left onto Spring Street and head uphill (north). The road will wind steeply up the mountain.
3
Follow the signs for the Crescent Hotel. Turn right onto Prospect Avenue.
4
The hotel entrance and guest parking lot are on your right at 75 Prospect Ave.

About the Crescent Hotel

Built in 1886 on a ridge above Eureka Springs, the Crescent has served as a luxury resort, an elite women's college, and the site of con man Norman Baker's notorious fraudulent cancer hospital. Today it stands as America's Most Haunted Hotel — featured on Ghost Adventures, Ghost Hunters, and in Smithsonian magazine — with its halls, staircases, and basement largely unchanged from the stories told about them.
